We are seeking a bilingual Press Secretary who will help implement state and national media plans for The LIBRE Initiative and The LIBRE Institute with a pulse on the political landscape. Among the responsibilities for this role will include working with the Communications Director to develop, manage and organize communications tactics as well as writing press releases, talking points, op-eds, organizing local press events/interviews, and coordinating with reporters to promote LIBRE’s work.

Additionally, the Press Secretary may serve as an on the record spokesperson and media liaison for a number of LIBRE states for both English and Spanish language media. The ideal candidate will be located at our offices in Arlington, Virginia with remote flexibility for standout applicants.

  • Media Strategy & Execution: Develop and drive comprehensive earned media plans for LIBRE state chapters, ensuring consistent messaging across local and national platforms. 
  • Media Relations: Proactively identify and pitch opportunities for TV, radio, and print coverage. Build and maintain "first-name" relationships with reporters covering policy, Hispanic affairs, and community news. 
  • Content Creation: Produce communications resources, including press releases, talking points, op-eds, and media advisories. 
  • Media Training & Prep: Provide HQ and state-level staff with comprehensive messaging guidance and interview prep to ensure brand consistency and confidence. 
  • Event Management: Organize and manage local press events, press conferences, and media interviews at grassroots workshops and events. 
  • Spokesperson Duties: Serve as an official on-the-record spokesperson for both English and Spanish-language media outlets. 
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with regional communications teams and state directors to deliver brand-quality products under tight deadlines. 
  • Proactive Growth: Constantly seek new, creative ways to leverage LIBRE’s mission in the news cycle, moving beyond reactive statements to proactive storytelling. 
  • Organizational Alignment: Work hand-in-hand with the Communications Director to ensure all tactics directly support the organization’s long-term policy objectives. 
  • Mobility: Ability to travel to key states as needed to manage media on the ground during major grassroots mobilizations. 
  • Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish and English.
